Munich, Germany — February 13, 2025: In a distressing incident in Munich, at least 28 people were injured when a car crashed into a crowd participating in a protest organized by the Verdi trade union.

The event occurred near the central train station just hours before the commencement of the high-profile Munich Security Conference, which is set to attract global leaders and security experts.

The driver, identified as a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker, reportedly maneuvered around a police vehicle before accelerating into the demonstrators.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as emergency services rushed to assist the injured, including children. Some victims sustained serious injuries, with local authorities confirming that at least two individuals are in critical condition.

Bavarian Premier Markus Söder labeled the incident a “suspected attack,” emphasizing its severity.

Munich Mayor Dieter Reiter expressed deep concern for the victims and their families.

Authorities confirmed that a shot was fired during the arrest of the suspect, but they assured the public that he no longer poses a threat.

This shocking event has intensified discussions surrounding security and immigration policies in Germany, particularly in light of recent violent attacks linked to asylum seekers.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz condemned the attack as “terrible” and stressed the need for strict consequences for those who commit crimes in Germany.

As investigations continue, police have assured the public that they are diligently working to determine the motives behind this alarming act.

The incident has raised concerns about security measures ahead of the upcoming Munich Security Conference, where leaders will convene to discuss pressing international issues.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as they work to piece together the events leading up to this tragic attack.
