Most observers thought that the debate had further clarified the Democrats’ idea and platform.
Viewers have some mixed emotions about how the debate made Democrats feel.
Forty-four percent of Democratic voters said the debate concerned their party’s candidates to choose, though another 12% said it made them feel optimistic. Most white Democratic voters said they were feeling nervous, though most black Democratic voters said they were optimistic.
At one point, Sanders was challenged by some of his rivals for comments on the Communist government, but most debate observers say he did a good job of explaining his positions.
